I grew up in church. My father is a preacher and I have spent more hours on a church pew than I could count. I consider my self fluid in church language and familiar with the rhythm of religion. I have poured my heart and soul into reading just the right scripture, studying the right bible verses, and singing the right songs. I wanted to do church and and do good to show God that his life’s sacrifice was not wasted on me.
The truth is Christ didn’t give his life on the cross so we could spend the rest of our lives performing for his approval. He did it to open the door that allows us to fellowship and do life with him. He wants to walk with us, step by step, and hand in hand.
No one trusts strangers with the most detailed in’s and out’s of their lives. With out a relationship with God he is a stranger to us even though we are no strangers to him. He created us and formed us and knows our detailed thoughts.
“But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”
Luke 12:7 NKJV
Even still, he won’t force his way into our lives. Letting him in is a choice we make every day. It is my prayer that Journey to A Virtuous Woman becomes a place that encourages all of us to do just that.
