Is God Angry With Me?

God’s not mad at you. Don’t believe me? That’s fine, a few years ago I wouldn’t believe me either. You don’t have to take my word for it though, just see what the Bible has to say on the matter. These three questions are plucked straight from my own thought life and the scriptures come directly from the Word of God. So enjoy!

How Do I know God Is Not Angry With Me?

“However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Christ may show all long suffering as a pattern to those who are going to believe on him for everlasting life.1 Timothy 1:16 NKJV

To put it plain and simple Paul is saying God saved me to prove he can and will save anybody who believes in him. Paul’s personal mission in life before meeting the Lord was to murder all Christians but he was not the only sinner God chose to use. Moses committed murder, David committed adultery, and Rahab was a prostitute. The perfect word of God is filled with stories of God using imperfect people to show his perfect love. What did Rahab, Moses, and David have in common? They believed in God and came to him with a repentant heart. That is all the Lord requires of us, regardless of what you have done.

I have sinned over and over. How many times will God forgive me?

We call God our father which He is. The enemy tries to use that phrase to apply earthly reasoning and limits to our relationship with him. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice… after all it’s only natural to protect yourself from more disappointment. Imagine you are a parent teaching your child to ride a bike in the park. Do you get mad when they fall off. Do you scream and yell at them when they scrape a knee and take their bike back to the store. No! You take pride in every foot they gain in between stumbles and do all you can to encourage them to keep up the effort. God is the same way with us. He knows that we will fall and struggle but we are his children. He is just looking for us to get back on the bike. Don’t give up life with him.g

If God is not mad at me than why do bad things keep happening to me?

“ The thief doesn’t come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they have life, and that they my have it more abundantly.”John 10:10 NKJV

The enemy comes to kill, steal, and to destroy. Unfortunately he is good at what he does. He attacks us and our families whether we are with the Lord or not. Think about it. When you were away from God did life just suddenly get easier? No! God doesn’t promise we will not go through tough times. He does promise that with him we will never go through them alone. He does promise that whatever we go through he will make it work out for our good.

There are a lot of scriptures in the word about God’s wrath.  A lot of people use this text to justify their judgment on others. Since Jesus laid his life down he opened the door to God’s grace to be available to all. He still hates sin but his love for us keeps us from His wrath. This period of grace is temporary. Now is the time to walk in Christs love and all he has for you.

Remember, you can do everything God says you can do. You can have every promise the word of God says you can have and you can become all God has called you to be, and so can I!
