The voice of self doubt can be loud and all consuming. It keeps a record of everything you have done wrong, zaps you of confidence, and freezes you in your tracks with fear. Being able to identify when that voice is trying to have an impact on your perspective and speak truth over your mind and your decisions is key to unlocking your God given potential. This is something I am honestly still growing in. So here are 2 questions straight out of my voice of doubt play book and the God given truths that empower me to walk in victory.
1)What if I don’t have what it takes?
The answer is you really might not have every single thing it takes to take that step or reach that goal right now. That does not mean that your dream in impossible. The point of setting a goal is to give you the opportunity to grow and develop into the person you were meant to be. If you have everything you need in a given moment to reach that goal, than that goal does not have the ability to challenge you.
Don’t be afraid to set goals and go after dreams that you have to grow to reach. Remember that it can causes growing pains and there can be a lot of ups and downs but that’s nothing God can’t bring you through. In fact He created the process to allow us to develop and come into a place where we understand more about him and who he created us to be.
“Make sure that your endurance carries you all the way without failing, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
James 1:4
2) What if I fail?
The only way you can truly fail is when you stop moving forward. Sometimes we can let our success and our failures define our perspective of how we see ourselves. I believe the truth of our character can be found in how we can handle all situations. Good and bad. The circumstances we create and the ones life seems to give. If we never put our selves in a position where failure is possible than we remove the potential to excel.
Thomas Edison failed 1,000 times when creating the lightbulb. Dr. Seuss’s 1st book was rejected 28 times. The Word says that God is made perfect in our weakness. If we trust God to make up the difference in the areas we fall short than we will truly have the chance to see his power revealed in our lives in a real way. Said best by Master Shifu, the tiny red panda in the movie Kung Fu Panda, “if you only do what you can you will never be more than you are”.
“But his answer was: “My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak.” I am most happy, then, to be proud of my weaknesses, in order to feel the protection of Christ’s power over me.”
2 Corinthians 12:9
When we choose to walk in faith and allow God to lead us in all areas of life than we will have the chance to see his power revealed in or lives in a real way.
