When You Least Expect It……Expect it

My dad loves a good laugh. At times he would wake us up early in the morning in a frantic rush to get ready for school, only to find that it was Saturday. When my brother was little he vowed to get him back. With as menacing a look any 5 year old could muster up, he told my dad “when you least expect it….. expect it”!

This week I found myself walking around a store frustrated about work. I tried so hard to do things my way with little, to no success. I began to speak the word and I felt nothing. Not some strong reassurance, not a single goose bump! I went to the check out line only to find that I happened to be standing In the middle of two people I was playing phone tag with. I was expecting warm and fuzzes instead, God set up divine appointments that went beyond my efforts. He wants to encounter you in your home, in your office, and at the park. When you least expect it, expect.

Be willing to take the limitations off of how you will receive Gods word.

My father-in-law tells a story of when he was praying for a wife. He is driving down the road and proclaims to God that there must be someone out there for him. At that moment he turns on the radio and to his surprise, the song says…”not one, no not one.” Thus proving my point. Gods instructions to us do not always have to come in confirmations of three or in the from of a message carrying angel. In fact, God has used all kinds of things from dreams to donkeys. He wants to speak to you in a unique and personal way. You have to put your self in a position to listen. This means spending time in the Word of God. We must grow in understanding of who he is to know his voice.

We are who God says we are. We can do what God has called us to do. You can be all that he has called you to be, and so can I.
